Nike were announced as Liverpool’s official kit manufacturers in early 2020 amidst much excitement from the fanbase. The Oregon based corporation took over from New Balance after the high court ruled in favour of the Merseyside club in October 2019.
Even though New Balance were said to be offering a lot more on guaranteed payments, Nike’s deal included clauses that would take the amount closer to what the likes of Manchester United received, therefore helping the club compete off the pitch.
So far, the deal seems to be paying off for the reds. The first Liverpool home shirt made by Nike saw record sales and the following season’s away kit needed to be restocked after overwhelming demand.
