Derby County, who sit at the bottom of the Championship, were forced into administration in September last year.
The administrators have ever since been on the lookout for an exit route with several potential buyers linked with the club’s takeover during the past couple of months. The latest of which is former Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley who, as per Telegraph, is preparing a £50 million takeover bid to buy Derby County.
The news took Twitter by storm and invited mixed reactions from fans. Some welcomed the move, citing that the deal could bail out one of the biggest clubs in East Midlands from potential liquidation and make them stable financially.
There were, however, many fans who thought letting Mike Ashley own the club might be a bad idea and some of them, especially Newcastle ones, didn’t hold back while making their thoughts known.
