Kylian Mbappe’s transfer saga could involve another twist if the latest reports from the Independent are to be believed. According to these reports, PSG are planning to throw all their financial might into keeping the French superstar in Paris by offering a contract that could see him earn in excess of £500k in basic salary and close to £1m a week.

The 23-year-old put in a match-winning display against European titans Real Madrid, who are banking on the youngster’s Bernabeu arrival to be the catalyst that lifts them back up to European glory.

Real Madrid’s performance against the Parisians on Tuesday night only makes the case for PSG stronger as Ancelotti’s side struggled to create and in-form striker Benzema cut a forlorn figure up front, feeding on scraps.

If the former Monaco forward decides to accept PSG’s contract, it would make him the highest-paid footballer on the planet, and possibly in the history of the sport. The sum involved could blow Real Madrid and other top sides out of the competition.

PSG president Al-Khelaifi has been tight-lipped about the future of his player, with his most recent comments stating that the forward is a true professional and is proud to represent his city. But, the Qatari knows he doesn’t have much time left to convince Mbappe that his long-term future lies in France.
