With no breakthrough in Ousmane Dembele’s contract situation, there are bound to be question marks over his future at Barca. Club President Joan Laporta would be keen on bringing in someone of Haaland’s stature if they were to lose the French ace.
Spanish Journalist Alvaro Montera tells Sky Sports that Barca President Joan Laporta and Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola had met in Torino, Italy where the latter had made it clear that his client is open to joining the Catalans if they can afford to pay him.
The player and his agent have been open about their “€100 million project”, which would see the Norwegian superstar bag €30 million annually for three years with a two-year extension option.
It was only recently that Laporta insisted “Barcelona are back” as big players in the transfer market. However, Barca are still struggling to register players. Having barely managed to register Dani Alves, they are yet to officially include their new signing Ferran Torres in the squad.
The only way Barcelona can hope to afford Haaland is by getting big names off the payroll. Players like Coutinho, Dembele, Frenkie de Jong could be among the list of players whom Laporta might look to move on.
With Mbappe’s move to rivals Real Madrid looking imminent, the Blaugranes would be keen on bringing the Dortmund talisman home.
