The English FA announced on Monday that manager Gareth Southgate has signed a new deal that runs till the December of 2024. The news comes after weeks of speculation and would be music to the ears of England fans who saw their team reach the final of the Euros. Assistant manager Steve Holland has also signed a new contract.
"I am delighted that Steve and I have been able to extend our stay in our respective roles," said Southgate.
"We have a great opportunity in front of us and I know they and the fans are all excited about what this squad could achieve in future." he added.
The new deal means Southgate will get the chance to lead a young and talented group of players into the World Cup in Qatar and also Euro 2024, which is to be held in Germany. England came within touching distance of lifting their first major international trophy in decades in front of their fans back in July and Southgate will hope they can get over the line next time around.
