Borussia Dortmund have wasted absolutely no time in replacing the outgoing Erling Haaland with another talented youngster in RB Salzburg’s Karim Adeyemi.
The move was confirmed minutes after Manchester City announced made their marquee signing of Erling Haaland official.
Adeyemi has signed a five-year deal until 2027 after completing a medical today. He is thought to be Dortmund's solution to the Haaland-shaped hole left in the team, despite not being a like-for-like replacement in terms of playing style.
“As a young boy I was fascinated by the Black & Yellows’ fast-paced football. That’s why, as soon as I heard Dortmund were interested in me, I knew I wanted to sign with BVB. I made the conscious decision to sign a long-term deal because I’m convinced that we’re going to form an exciting team, that with the support of the amazing fans in Dortmund will be able to compete for and win titles in the years to come.” Adeyemi said after the move was made official.
Adeyemi has long been linked with a move to Germany, but are believed to have faced competition from clubs like Liverpool and Bayern Munich for the youngster’s signature. The 20-year-old has netted 19 goals from 22 starts in the Austrian league, leading his team to the title. He also has 3 goals from 8 games in the Champions League, proving he is capable of performing on the biggest stage.
