Atletico Madrid captain Koke is a major doubt for the Spanish side’s first leg of the Champions League knock-out clash against Manchester United, according to Marca.
The 30-year-old, along with a number of others, including Cunha, Lemar and Carrasco, is set to be sidelined against English giants Man United.
Simeone’s side, who have had a poor season so far, will be without their midfield mainstay who last missed a Champions League match in 2018. This further complicates the matter for Atleti, who left it till the last game of the group stage to earn qualification for the last 16.
The Spanish champions currently lie 5th in the table on goal difference, a place below Barcelona, who have played a game less. In United, they face a side who have had a similar season domestically but look to be finding form as they go into the business end of the season.
Atletico will be wary of facing their nemesis Cristiano Ronaldo, who already has 6 goals from 5 games in Europe since the 37-year-old made his stunning return to Old Trafford.
