Newcastle are reportedly continuing with their chase of Lille’s Sven Botman and Sevilla’s Diego Carlos, according to a report on The Athletic. Newcastle have already brought in fullback Kieran Trippier as the first signing of the window and the new era and are looking to further strengthen the defence with two centre-backs.
Although 21-year-old Botman is reportedly Newcastle’s primary target, Lille are not said to be looking to cash in on the centre-back at this stage of the season. Furthermore, the Ligue 1 side’s qualification for the Champions League knockout stages means Botman’s stock will continue to rise.
Diego Carlos of Sevilla is another player the club are interested in bringing to Tyneside. Sevilla will be looking to sell for the right price, and the player himself has reportedly expressed his desired to play for the Magpies.
Newcastle are also said to be in the running for Everton’s wantaway left-back Lucas Digne, but the Frenchman is said to have his heart set on a move to Chelsea.
