Christopher Nkunku during Leipzig vs Dortmund in the Bundesliga
RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku is said to be on Manchester United’s radar, according to ESPN.
The Frenchman is the latest youngster to be linked with a move to Old Trafford as United’s forwards continue to struggle in front of goal. Nkunku has been in fine form this season, with 11 goals and 7 assists in the Bundesliga and former Leipzig boss Ralf Rangnick is believed to be a fan of the attacker.
Rangnick was recently critical of his forward line, stating that Ronaldo and others need to be finding the back of the net more often if United are to finish in the top four. Ronaldo, Greenwood, Rashford and Sancho have a combined 19 goals between them this season, with none of the forwards reaching double figures.
Nkunku is versatile enough to fill in a number of attacking positions. The 24-year-old has mostly impressed as a no. 10 for Leipzig this season, going on to score 10 goals and registering 4 assists from the position. He has also led the attack six times for Leipzig, scoring thrice.
Rangnick is believed to be the main reason for the interest in the player, as Nkunku wasn’t initially on the list of potential signings.
However, the officials at United will be wary of spending big on another attacking talent from the Bundesliga, with summer acquisition Jadon Sancho finding the net only twice so far in the Premier League. The Englishman was brought in for a whopping £73m but has found going tough.
