With Paul Pogba’s future still uncertain and Nemanja Matic turning 34 this year, United are on the lookout for someone versatile enough to play as a deep-lying midfielder or a number 8.
Liverpool, on the other hand, already have a top defensive midfielder in Fabinho who signed a new contract in August last year. But, veteran James Milner moving into the final few months of his contract and the Naby Keita struggling with fitness over the years means Jurgen Klopp would be forced to look for solutions outside the squad to compete with the likes of Man City, United and Chelsea.
Tchouameni has been a mainstay in Monaco’s midfield and is considered one of their best players in Ligue 1 and will be looking to hold down a starting spot in the France national team before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
