Stade Rennais have decided to cancel training of their academy until April 28 following an attack on the director Denis Arnaud that happened on Saturday. The move is in solidarity with Arnaud.
The club have also confirmed that an official complaint will be filed against the perpetrator of the violent conduct.
“In the current context where professional and amateur football is the victim of an outbreak of violence, intolerable on the pitch, Stade Rennais FC would like to remind you that its vocation is to train young talents, to support them towards personal development. , and provide pleasure and emotions to those who love football.
“Under no circumstances should educators, managers, players, referees and volunteers suffer from the irresponsible behavior of a minority. Football must remain a celebration and a moment of communion.
“Such actions are not compatible with the values of sport. They jeopardize the proper functioning of clubs and the progress of young players.” read the French side’s official statement.
The statement doesn’t name the player whose father is responsible for the act, but multiple reports believe the player in question is Noah Francoise, who happens to be captain of the club’s reserve side.
