Chelsea’s contract talks with Antonio Rudiger are back underway, according to The Athletic. 

Rudiger had rejected Chelsea’s previous offer amid interest from the likes of Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern Munich.

Chelsea had reportedly offered the 28-year-old around £140,000 a week, which was rejected at the time, but manager Thomas Tuchel seems to have played a big part in bringing both parties back to the negotiating table. 

Tuchel and Co. don’t have too long to convince the centre-back as a player is allowed to negotiate a pre-contract with foreign sides once they enter the final six months of their contract, according to the rules.

Despite this, the former Borussia Dortmund manager was optimistic about a deal happening when asked: “We have confidence (to keep him) and have things to offer. He is the player he is in a Chelsea shirt and in the Chelsea environment. I think he knows that very well”.
