Aston Villa’s inspired draw against Manchester United saw Ezri Konsa walk down the tunnel after sustaining a knock on his hip.
The Englishman has been a mainstay in Villa’s defence and as a result of his injury, the club could be forced to move for a centre-half in the January window, according to The Athletic.
Villa have already brought in Coutinho and Digne and were said to be on the lookout for a central midfielder, but the centre-back position is said to have become a priority.
The club are reportedly interested in Liverpool’s Joe Gomez but know that despite the 24-year-old struggling for game time at Merseyside, a move would be tricky, especially in January.
Villa could also wait till the summer to move for the Englishman and look for a temporary solution in the transfer market, depending on Konsa’s injury.
Steven Gerrard, however, will have to make do with the pair of Tyrone Mings and Kortney Hause till then.
