Xavi’s side have been struggling to score goals and with half of the season gone, no player has managed to get their goal tally in double figures.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is highly regarded by the Blaugrana boss, and having him alongside would help the Spanish giants overcome their shortcomings at the top of the pitch.

Multiple reports suggest that the 32-year-old will join the Catalans on a permanent transfer for free. The player is expected to undergo medical before the transfer deadline.

The deal, if goes through, will mark the end of Aubameyang’s Arsenal career, and the Gunners would be losing yet another senior player for zero fees. The move would also mean that the North London side would be left with only two first-team strikers in Eddie Nketiah and Alexander Lacazette.

The ex-Dortmund star had an offer from Saudi Arabia on the table, but he was not interested in leaving Europe. After falling out with manager Mikel Arteta, there seems to be no way back for the striker, and a move to Camp Nou could prove beneficial to both parties.

Aubameyang has scored 92 goals in all competitions for Arsenal while managing only seven goals this campaign. He won the Premier League Golden Boot award for netting 22 goals in the 2018-19 season and an FA Cup in 2020 during his time in North London.
