Arsenal are best placed to sign PSV Eindhoven's sought-after attacker Cody Gakpo despite interest from the likes of Barcelona, Liverpool and Bayern Munich according to Voetbal International.
Gakpo’s original contract with PSV ended in 2025, but he recently signed a contract extension that would make him stay in the Netherlands until 2026.
Gakpo has 8 goals and 12 assists in 18 starts in the Eredivisie. The majority of his appearances have come as a left-sided winger this season, but the 22-year-old is extremely versatile and can play almost anywhere in attack.
Arteta’s side are fighting to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since the 2016-17 season. If qualified, the club would need to strengthen up front, as Alexandre Lacazette is the only recognised no. 9 left in the squad after Aubameyang’s departure.
PSV are reportedly resigned to the possibility of losing the talented winger to one of the big clubs, but Arsenal technical director Edu will have his work cut out for him as PSV will likely look to extract the maximum amount possible from the buying club due to the four years remaining on Gakpo’s contract.
